Election officials say early voting has been going smoothly at their new location.
The upcoming general election is the first time the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections has been in their new office location at 933 East High Avenue, in New Philadelphia.
Director Dave Johnson says the turnout for early voting as been steady.
“We’ve had 1,318 people in the early voting in the election so far [as of Friday morning] and they keep coming in every day.”
Johnson says one plus being in the new building is the lack of voter wait times.
“We’re only running four machines but it’s handling the workload that we’ve had this election. The nice part of this building is we can expand and add machines at any time if the need is there.”
Early voting hours will continue throughout this week. Voters across the county will see a replacement levy for the ADAMHS Board, a renewal and increase for the Senior Center, and a replacement for the Tuscarawas County Public Library.
Other issues and races include the New Philadelphia bond, Strasburg Fire Department’s renewal, and Dover Council At Large.
