Scarves will be hung as a local project returns on Friday, November 14th.

Working to ensure folks have a basic winter item, Scarf Project Coordinator Aimee Rufener says the event keeps growing with more sites and a collection of about 1,300 scarves with some hats and mittens.

“The goal is to help those in need and warm the world one scarf at a time. Anyone can go and grab a scarf if they need it. Grab two scarfs if they need.”

Volunteers will setup the scarves at 18 locations, some in Alliance, Canton, Cleveland, Mineral City, Navarre, and Ravenna. Rufener says there’s 11 local distribution sites.

“Places in New Philadelphia, the former Rite Aid property on the corner of West High and Tuscarawas Avenue, Starlight on East Hgih Avenue, the Tuscarawas County Public Library. Also have St. john United Church of Christ in Dover and then behind Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital at 300 Medical Park Drive.”

The Uhrichsville location will be the gazebo at the Panhandle Passage Park Trailhead. Other sites include the community center in Port Washington, St. James Lutheran Church in the Village of Tusky, along with the Strasburg Village Market.

The scarves are available, starting at 8am this Friday, at no cost and no questions asked.
