Uhrichsville’s mayor is commending his team while welcoming a new Code Enforcement Officer.
The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for following the International Property Maintenance Code and city codes and give notices for infractions.
At the latest meeting, Mayor Jim Zucal officially made the new hire announcement.
“I welcome James “Buck” Myers back on our staff as the newly appointed code enforcement official. Buck was a previous mayor, was in law enforcement, taught law enforcement. Brings a lot to the table.”
Zucal also notes they’ve been busy at city hall and many changes are happening within city limits.
“You’ll see houses being taken down, people cleaning up their properties, we send out thank you letter. We encourage people to work with us. We probably send out 15, 20, 25 letters a week, easy. You can see the difference.”
As part of the Service Director’s report, Cade Watkins says there’s been talk of a rate increase for health insurance.
“We got hit pretty hard last year and it looks like we are going to get hard again. This year the initial rate that was given was a 19.5% increase. So, we’re going to see if we can shop around and may be drop that down a little bit.”
Meanwhile, Street Supervisor Steve Patterson says they were out patching potholes last month.
“Out down 30 ton of patch in October. I know it doesn’t sound like much but if you think about it that’s a lot of potholes. It really was. We got quite a few done.”
Uhrichsville’s next meeting will be Monday, November 24th at 7pm due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
