The Tuscarawas County Health Department will have a new main entrance starting Monday as a 2.1 million dollar construction project moves closer to completion.
Director of Health Promotion & Community Relations Jennifer Demuth says the new main entrance will be open in the back of the building with handicap-accessible parking, but the front lobby will be closed to continue the work.
“Which included adding a bypass drive, handicap-accessible main entrance, we’ve also been able to add a 2,200 square foot addition to the back of the building to add additional offices and community meeting spaces.”
Demuth says the work on the East Iron Avenue building should be complete by early next year. She says the building’s heating and cooling system and its handicap accessibility features were close to 50 years old.
The project is partially funded by federal grants including some distributed through the American Rescue Plan Act that followed the COVID-19 pandemic.
