The Tuscarawas County YMCA is expecting approximately one-thousand participants for its annual turkey trot 5k walk and run event tomorrow.
Marketing director Kathleen Johnson says it’s a thanksgiving morning tradition for many families.
Johnson says it’s a nice flat course that goes through the streets of neighborhoods surrounding the YMCA.
“In Dover and New Philadelphia so we’re in both spaces, and it’s just a really great route for a first-time runner and for someone who wants to run a nice competitive race as well.”
All proceeds from the turkey trot go to the Tuscarawas County YMCA campaign that provides financial assistance on programs and memberships for area youth and families who qualify.
The race starts Thursday at 9 am. Participants can register up until shortly before race time online at tuscymca.org.
