Dover is getting 343-thousand dollars from the state to make improvements to the city’s Riverfront Park.

Mayor Shane Gunnoe says the funds come in the form of a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Gunnoe says the city will only have to cover about 15-thousand dollars of the cost. Work must get started before June 30th of next year for the city to be eligible for the grant. Eventually, the Riverfront Park trail will become part of the Towpath Trail that runs from Cleveland to New Philadelphia.

The city is eyeing several other projects to get started next year, including a picnic shelter near the new pickleball courts at the city park and a new splash pad at the city pool.
