Village of Dennison Council is reviewing several items brought up at the latest meeting.

Fire Chief Dave McConnell made them aware that their old engine is reaching its 25-year recommended lifespan.

“It’s not an emergency but at some point, we’re going to have to look because this year the older engine that Dennison owns, the rescue engine, should be placed out of service. They recommend use it as a backup after 20 years and after 25 you take it out of service.”

A new engine could range from five to $600,000. McConnell noted if a new engine is ordered it would take a few years to arrive.

Elsewhere, fiscal officer Jennifer Jones noted House Bill 96, which mandates all Ohio political subdivision to implement a cybersecurity program. With no village IT department, they reached out to Pioneer360.

“We have to be up to code with our firewall and security and all kinds of fun stuff per the State of Ohio come January 1st.”

Mayor Greg DiDonato brought up a new program being offered by the state for the next fiscal year.

“We have to pass a resolution by January. They’re offering to cut our grass through State Route 800. I don’t know the full details of what they’re going to do. Application for grass removal, citizen support, and safety program for state fiscal year 2026-27 and we have to pass this resolution to give them consent. They’ll provide supplement mowing, pruning, trimming, or cutting on the right-of-way.”

Dennison will not have a December meeting.
