Thelma Jean Boitnott, 89, of Gnadenhutten, died December 8, 2025, following a period of declining health in Ohio’s Hospice Truman House.
A daughter of the late Clendening E. and Clara V. (Homrighouse) Striker, Thelma was born October 15, 1936, in Dennison.
On December 31, 1955, Thelma married the late Theodore R. Boitnott, Sr., and the couple raised four children, Thelma, Ted Jr., Bruce and Beverley.
Thelma and Ted were the longtime owners and operators of Ted’s Bar at Stone Creek. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, cleaning, and gambling.
She is survived by her children, Thelma Lanzer of New Philadelphia, Ted (Terri) Boitnott Jr. of Uhrichsville, Bruce Boitnott of Dover and Beverley Trambaugh of Roswell; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Thelma was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Ted, on March 17, 2013; two sisters; one brother; and great-grandchildren, Brooke and Joseph.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Terry Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
