A special recognition is given to Sally Green, a board of education member at Tuscarawas Valley Local.
At the most recent meeting Ohio School Board Association Northeast Regional Manager Reno Contipelli says he met Green about 10 years ago.
“I was a lonely guy down there at my booth there at capital conference looking for someone from Tuscarawas Valley. Here comes Sally and she said I would like to get more involved with OSBA, well little did I know that she was a rising star.”
Green began her journey on the Tusky Valley Board starting in January 2006. She is a member of OSBA’s Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, Legislative Platform Committee, Black Caucus and Northeast Region Executive Committee. She also served as OSBA president in 2024.
Contipelli says the All Ohio School Board Member achievement is selective.
“The criteria is you have to be a master board member. A current master board member so that takes the field in the region down to 20. Unanimously, in the northeast region, we picked Sally Green.”
Contipelli notes the All Ohio nomination is by peers and among 3,400 board members in the state only five can be selected for this award. He says Green is deserving of this honor.
“She attended everything. She helped me out with spring and fall conferences, she took pictures, she helped with power points. She traveled to every county in Ohio to visit the public schools.”
In 2020, Green was recognized as an OSBA Master Board Member, a lifetime distinction.
