Record travel numbers are expected over Christmas and New Years and ODOT is ready.
Press Secretary Matt Bruning says unlike with most other major holidays, they are not anticipating a one-time increase on the roads.
“We’re expecting a more spread-out travel. We’ll have a little heavier volume in the afternoons but for the most part we’re not going to see those big spikes in travel like we would say around Thanksgiving.”
Bruning encourages anyone traveling in Ohio to plan ahead.
“So checking OHGO.com. You’ll have access to more than 1300 live traffic cameras, work zones, and crashes. OHGO.com is a great resource for checking things before you head out the door.”
ODOT will also change some of their message boards to include holiday humor, but the focus will remain on driving sober, buckling up, and reduce speeds.
