Elizabeth Charlene “Sue” Schwartz, age 79, of New Philadelphia, died early December 25, 2025, while in the care of Ohio’s Hospice’s Truman House at New Philadelphia.

Born in Union Hospital at Dover on August 14, 1946, Sue was a daughter of the late Sara L. (Jackson) and Ernest “Bud” Fawcett, her mother and stepfather, and her father, Kenneth W. Fawcett.

Sue was a 1965 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and, for 32 years worked as a Shipping Clerk at OI in Berlin, Ohio. She was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ at Sugarcreek, where she was active in the LCBA and Women of Faith UCC groups. Most recently, Sue had been attending Church of the New Hope at Dover.

In her younger years, she enjoyed serving as a Den Mother to Cub Scout Pack 91 of Sugarcreek. She also spent many years league bowling at the former Sugarcreek Lanes. In retirement, Sue worked at the Miller Avenue Elementary School for the Garaway School District as a classroom aide. She enjoyed spending time with her cousins and her neighborhood ladies and helping with Special Olympics events.

She held a special place in her heart for celebrating people’s birthdays and made sure her friends and family always received one of her handmade cards to mark a new year of life. She shared this passion by creating greeting cards and working with various card-making groups.

Sue is survived by her sons, Kyle (Laura) Morris of West Salem and J. Craig Morris of New Philadelphia; grandchildren, Manning, Sydni, Louisa, and Sophia; a sister, Kathryn Hostetler; a sister-in-law, Paula Fawcett; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and stepfather, Sue was preceded in death by her husband, James Schwartz on April 22, 2019, her brothers, Charles, David, and John Fawcett, and a sister, Rebecca Fawcett.

The family will greet guests on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4 – 6 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Brian Flood will lead a service celebrating Sue’s life in the funeral home’s chapel on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
