Evelyn Katharina Ralston, age 91, of Sherrodsville, formerly of Scio, died peacefully with family by her side at 4:49 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, in Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, Dover, Ohio after a brief illness.
She was born October 17, 1934, in Landshut, Bavaria, Germany; a daughter of the late Joseph Max Barnerssoi and Katharina Kaiser Barnerssoi.
Evelyn completed her education in Germany before coming to Scio, Ohio in 1953. She began working as a pottery decorator for Scio Pottery until they closed in 1985. She then went to work for R & N China in Carrollton for several years before retiring.
After a house fire in 2001, she moved to Sherrodsville to live with her daughter, Sue, and her family. She was content there until declining health required her to move to Park Village North in Dover, where she resided for eleven years.
Evelyn was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Jewett and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia. She was an animal lover and had several pets over the years. She also liked to knit and sew, once making a dance outfit for one of her nieces. She was an avid reader. Her favorite subjects were history and science fiction, especially “Dr. Who”.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Ann (George Randall) Case of Sherrodsville; two grandsons: George Gregory (Natasha) Case of Hopedale and Timothy Adam Case of Sherrodsville; two great-grandchildren: George Gerald (Sharon) Case of Peoria, Arizona and Sabrina Ann Mangum of Colorado; three great-great grandchildren: Christopher, Briella, and Damian; five step great-grandchildren: Jasmine, George, Michael, Fred, and Alex; four step great-great-grandchildren: Grayson, Soren, Luna, and Hunter; and two nieces: Ingrid and Helga of Melbourne, Australia.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Benjamin Joseph Case and a sister, Erna (George) Reiter.
No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the charity of the donor’s choice.
