A Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested a 35-year-old Uhrichsville man after a pursuit involving an off-road motorcycle on public streets.

The incident, reported shortly before midnight last night, started when the deputy observed the motorcycle being operated on a city roadway without visible registration or working lights. When the deputy attempted to stop the rider, the man fled.

The chase continued until the suspect veered onto a dirt path near the 6700 block of Superior Road SE, where he struck a downed tree branch that disabled the motorcycle. The man then fled on foot into nearby woods but was apprehended after briefly resisting deputies.

Investigators learned the suspect had been involved in an argument with a woman prior to the pursuit. Uhrichsville Police contacted the woman, who denied any physical altercation. The man, who has a lengthy criminal history, was transported to the Tuscarawas County Jail.

Authorities say a report will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for consideration of a felony charge along with multiple misdemeanors.
