A cause of death and a name is released related to a fatal house fire in Dover.
The Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 73-year-old Gregory Beitzel. The death is ruled accidental, and a cause is smoke inhalation.
The Dover Fire Department was notified Friday of smoke in the area of S. Johnson Avenue around 12:40pm. Captain Mike Mossor says once on scene, a person told first responders they believed someone could be inside. Units did find the man lying on the kitchen floor in the back of the home. The blaze, in the living room, was out within 17 minutes.
The man was transported to Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
According to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, there will be no services or calling hours.
