The Dover Public Library is looking back on 2025 and what was popular with patrons.

Director Jim Gill says overall, more than 300,000 items were checked out.

“So that’s books, magazines, physical things like DVD’s and CD’s, video games and also including our e-library. I think it’s interesting to know, people always ask me what percentage of your circulation is digital, and people think it’s like 80, 90-percent but it’s not. It’s around 20-percent usage is digital.”

At Dover Library the top circulating title was fiction.

“Typically, every year people love the hottest novel so that was no surprise. No surprise Linda Castillo’s book ‘Rage’ was the top adult fiction title.”

The top non-fiction book was My Side of the River: A Memoir, by Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez, last year’s One Book One Community novel.

Gill notes that libraries are more than just books, as they also have board games available and passes to area attractions.

“We love our adventure pass program. That gives families the opportunity to go experience a cultural institution at no cost. Just like a library book you get that for three or four days, and they’re typically family passes.”

The most checked out pass was to the Akron Zoo.
