No one was injured in a blaze that saw units responding just before 8:30 Saturday evening.
Strasburg Fire Department Chief Jason Ely says this was on Winfield Strasburg Road.
“Our police department was actually the first one to arrive on scene and they advised there was a fire in the garage. It was located in the corner where there were two deep freezers.”
He says the blaze was contained to the attached garage area, but the home did suffer from smoke and water damage.
Ely notes a company did go into the home and pulled apart some of the kitchen’s ceiling to ensure there was no extension.
“A lot of times garages and the attached residence will have a common attic space. A lot of times if the fire gets up in that attic space it can carry from the garage straight into the residence.”
Assisting fire departments include Baltic, Beach City, Bolivar, Dover, Erie Valley, Sugarcreek, Wayne Township, and Wilmot.
