Local officials say Tuscarawas County has survived this week’s harsh winter weather with relatively few serious emergencies. Now officials are worried about the effects of the sub-zero temperatures that are forecasted to extend into the weekend.
Dover Service Director Dave Douglas says bursting water lines, both underground and inside buildings, are a concern. He advised people to let their faucets drip if they’re concerned about pipes bursting.
Dover crews repaired a broken water main at about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday on the city’s east side.
Officials say at least one Dover business’s interior sprinkler lines burst earlier in the week because of the cold. Fire officials also continue to remind residents to be cautious when heating their homes. Departments have responded to several fire calls related to heating devices in homes, sheds and garages.
