The Trap, Neuter, and Release group says they will continue prevention efforts in 2026, but donations are needed.
Tuscarawas TNR has existed for five years, and over that time care services have been provided to over 2,000 cats across the county.
Terri Edwards says last year, they provided services to 147 cats just in the Twin City area.
“Prevention of kittens is what TNR is all about. Cats are going to be cats, and a lot of people don’t realize cats can start having cats at four months old.”
In 2025, 77 cats were serviced in Uhrichsville at a vet cost of over $4,000 and the 50 from Dennison was just under $3,000.
Edwards points out they are a volunteer group, and donations are always needed to help with clinic costs.
“Every dollar goes to clinic care. When they go to the clinic [they get different vaccines]. Some cats need a little more. Some may have injuries. None of the volunteers use their own money. We use our own vehicles, own gas, I house them overnight after their surgeries, so it’s either donated or we do it out of compassion out of our pockets. We do appreciate your support. Whenever we get a call, we try our best to get to the places. There’s some places where we just can’t get them, so we have to move on.”
A fundraiser is coming up on February 28th. More details can be found on the Tuscarawas County TNR Project Facebook page.
