The New Philadelphia School Board is entering the early stages of planning for the district’s superintendent transition.
Superintendent Amy Wentworth submitted her resignation last week as she was given a 3-year contract to become superintendent at Indian Valley, her alma mater.
New Philadelphia School Board President Jenn Schrock says the board is slated to officially accept Wentworth’s resignation at its February 9th meeting, and then members will begin discussions on the next steps in the search for a new superintendent.
With the district planning another attempt at a ballot issue in May to fund new school buildings, Schrock said Wentworth’s pending departure should not hurt that effort – as Wentworth remains committed to getting it passed.
Schrock said it would be ideal to have a new superintendent selected before Wentworth’s departure, but regardless of the timeline, the board plans to conduct a thorough search to find the right person for the job.
