Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appoints Ryan Styer to the Tuscarawas County Court of Common Pleas, General and Domestic Relations Division.
Styer, a New Philadelphia resident, will take office on March 2 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Elizabeth Thomakos. He will serve the remainder of the unexpired term and will need to run for election in November 2026 to retain the seat. In the meantime, retired Judge Edward O’Farrell is filling in.
Styer began his legal career in 1996 as an intern before joining Brian Law Offices in 1998. The following year, he became a partner at Styer Law Offices. During that time, he also served as the Carroll County assistant public defender from 2000 to 2008 and as the village solicitor for Newcomerstown from 2004 to 2008.
He currently serves as the Tuscarawas County prosecuting attorney.
