Health officials say respiratory illness activity across much of the United States remains at a moderate level. The latest report covers the surveillance period from Jan. 25 through Jan. 31, 2026, and tracks combined activity from flu, COVID-19, RSV, and related illnesses.
Ohio is among the states currently classified at a moderate level of respiratory illness activity.
In the Ohio Department of Health’s latest wastewater surveillance report, samples collected Feb. 1 from the Dover Wastewater Treatment Plant indicated moderate levels of COVID-19, low levels of influenza, and high levels of RSV circulating in the community.
Hospitalization data released by ODH on Thursday, Feb. 5, for the week of Jan. 25 through Jan. 31, show Tuscarawas County recorded five hospitalizations related to COVID-19 and two related to influenza, with no RSV-related hospitalizations reported among county residents.
Statewide during the same period, Ohio hospitals reported 478 COVID-19 hospitalizations, 596 influenza hospitalizations, and 283 RSV hospitalizations.
Health officials continue to monitor trends through clinical and wastewater surveillance as respiratory illness season continues.
