Margaret Travis, 84, of Sugarcreek, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at New Dawn Nursing Home in Dover following a short period of declining health.
She was born in Dover on March 27, 1941, to the late Daniel and Mildred (Ackerman) Knisely and married Robert D. “Bert” Travis on July 31, 1981. He died on September 29, 2003.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek and was retired from delivering meals with Meals on Wheels in the Sugarcreek area.
She is survived by her children Gary (Sharon) Knisely of Sherrodsville, Dale R. (Becky) Travis of Zanesville, Fred Travis of Mt. Vernon, Howard Travis of New Mexico, Dennis (Roberta) Travis of Florida, and Ruth Wolfe of Ragersville; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her sister Leila Beavers of New Philadelphia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister Nancy Wherley and daughter-in-law Cynde Travis.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 12 PM (Noon) at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Earl Rogers officiating. Inurnment of her ashes will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 11-12 at the funeral home prior to the service.
