Friday evening the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated a crash on County Road 22, in Carroll County.
A release indicates New Philadelphia post troopers responded at 6:38pm for a single-vehicle crash just west of the village of Leesville.
Based upon the investigation, a Volkswagen was on CR 22 went it traveled left of center and down an embankment. The vehicle overturned.
The 18-year-old driver, Kyra Bunton, of New Philadelphia, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 18-year-old passenger, from Midvale, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by Bowerston Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation. OSP confirms that alcohol is not a suspected factor.
