Rick Ruegsegger, born January 4, 1956, passed away peacefully at his daughter Mindy’s home in Salineville, Ohio, after a courageous battle with lung cancer on February 23, 2026. He spent his final months surrounded by the love and care of his family.
Rick was married for 36years to Cindy, the mother of three of his children. Together they built a family that remained the center of his world.
Rick took great pride in working hard for a living. He worked as an electrician for EMR Contractors and later at Pearl Valley Cheese. He often reflected fondly on his earlier days driving a wrecker and working on oil rigs, stories that showcased his strong work ethic.
He found true happiness outdoors- whether hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, or simply walking through the woods. While his children may have given him a few gray and missing hairs along the way, his grandchildren filled his life with laughter, pride, and immeasurable love.
Rick leaves behind his children: Tina Price (Richard), Jason Ruegsegger, Justin Ruegsegger, and Mindy Dahlquist (Taylor). He was a proud grandfather to Vincent and Emily Price; Avaya and Jaden Ruegsegger; and Zoey, Braxton, and Sophia Dahlquist.
He is survived by his siblings: Dolly (Noe) Mendez; Val Fleming; Jo Lighton; Melany Hall (Bud); Donna Zadra; Karla Lint (Don); and Darrell Ruegsegger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Velma Jean Ruegsegger, as well as Brother-in-laws Paul Fleming, Ken Lighton, and John Zadra.
A memorial service will be held in the Geib Funeral Center, 5600 N Wooster Ave., Dover, Friday, February 27, 2026, at 3 pm.
