Betty Lou Parson, 87, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully in Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital on March 1, 2026. 

Betty was born in Mineral City on March 6, 1938, to the late Scott William and Emma Nettie (Krebs) Bucher. 

On March 27, 1955, she married the late Eugene “Junior” Parson, who preceded her in passing on November 22, 2021. Together, they were lifelong members of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia. 

Betty will be remembered as a sweet lady who loved the Lord and was dedicated to her family. 

Betty will be deeply missed by her children, Darrell (Sue) Parson, Pastor Dan (Wendy) Parson, and Brenda (Dale) Shroyer; grandchildren, Eric (Angel) Parson, Joshua (Katelyn) Parson, Stacy (Troy) Peterson, Tara Parson, Derek (Aubree) Parson, and Kaila Shroyer; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Eugene, Betty was preceded in passing by her infant twin sisters, Anna and Adabelle Bucher; her sister, Marjorie Trachsel; and her brothers, Robert and James Bucher. 

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Her son, Pastor Dan Parson, will lead a service celebrating Betty’s life beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Memory Gardens at Dover. A luncheon will be held in the Geib Family Center, located adjacent to the funeral home, following the committal service.
