The Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association is relocating its headquarters to New Philadelphia, a move local officials say will place the regional planning agency at the center of its 10‑county service area.

OMEGA’s board voted this week to move the organization from Cambridge to the Kent State Tuscarawas Tolloty Technology Incubator on Tech Park Drive. New Philadelphia Mayor Joel Day, who also serves as president of OMEGA’s executive board, said the new site positions the agency near key regional partners, including the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, Buckeye Career Center and Kent State Tuscarawas.

In 2024, OMEGA helped secure more than $50 million in state and federal funding for its member counties, including $2.8 million for Tuscarawas County. Supported projects ranged from sidewalks and bridges to park improvements and water and sewer upgrades.

Meanwhile, Day said he expects additional growth on the city’s west side following recent zoning changes and the arrival of new businesses such as Chick-fil‑A and Dunkin’. He called the restaurants “natural magnets” likely to attract more development.

Without offering specifics, Day said the city’s planning commission is set to review a proposal for a new housing development at its next meeting on April 14.
