Linda L. Stokey, 81, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Inn of Northwood Village in Dover, following a period of declining health.
Born in Dover on May 6, 1944, Linda was a 1962 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, where she was a proud member of the Marching Quaker Band.
On June 23, 1962, she married William Stokey. Soon after, the couple moved to Germany during Bill’s service in the U.S. Army, where both of their sons were born. They later returned to Lakewood, Ohio and then New Philadelphia to begin their careers with Allied Machine and Engineering, where Linda served for many years as an office manager.
Linda was a devoted and spirited supporter of her sons in their athletic pursuits—her signature whistle often rising above the crowd. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing and proudly celebrated a hole-in-one at Union Country Club. She was an active member of the Women’s Golf Association (WGA), earning the title of “Queen Bee,” and she and Bill were proud winners of the Toomey Trophy in the couple’s tournament.
She took great pride in working alongside her family at Allied and was honored as the First Lady of the United States Cutting Tool Institute (USCTI). Her involvement also afforded her the opportunity to travel and support the family business.
A charter member of Faith Christian Church, Linda was deeply involved in its ministry. She also served on the board of directors for Rainbow Connection and played an active role in organizing the annual Hospice Golf Outing each fall.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William Stokey; her sons, Mike (Sue) Stokey of Dover and Steve (Gretchen) Stokey of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Brock (Katie) Stokey, Beth (Shannon) Hunt-Stokey, Ellen (Greg) Moomaw, Emma (Mason) Pipes, Mitchell Stokey, and Marilyn Stokey; her great-grandchildren, Cooper and Lilly Stokey, and Rosie Hunt-Stokey; and her sisters-in-law, Janet (Jack) Rhonemus, Betty Buran, and Karen Stokey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Madeline Border; her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Eli Miller; and her brothers-in-law, Tim Stokey, Ron Stokey and Wally Buran.
The family will greet guests on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Faith Christian Church, 2012 Pleasant Valley Rd NE, New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Linda’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the church, with visitation one hour prior.
