Tuscarawas County health officials are reminding residents about a safe way to get rid of hazardous household items during spring cleaning.

The Tuscarawas County Health Department is teaming up with the Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Recycling District for the annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection, set for May 9th from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds.

Community Relations Director Jennifer Demuth says items accepted include oil-based paint, automotive fluids, cleaning products, fluorescent light bulbs, and more.

She says appointments are required and can be scheduled online at TimeToRecycle.org. Recycling district staff will collect items curbside, and participants must remain in their vehicles and provide proof of residency.

Items not accepted include latex paint, electronics, and tires.
