Council considered options before voting regarding Uhrichsville’s need for an auditor and what to do in the meantime.

The newest appointed auditor resigned recently leaving Uhrichsville in a situation where they’re unable to pay the bills.

Mayor Jim Zucal says he’s looking for a new auditor. In the meantime, at a special meeting, council agreed to a temporary solution.

“We’ve had an absence of an auditor for over four weeks. What council did was authorize the law director to draft legislation for the mayor to be responsible for hiring a third party as an auditor.”

He adds that these bills do not include employee salaries since that is handled by the payroll clerk.

Zucal says he is able to sign for some items.

“If there’s bills, already a purchase order I can sign checks to move forward but when we don’t have a requisition or purchase order that hasn’t been approved, I cannot sign.”

What third party group the mayor may select was unknown.
