The Greater Dover New Philadelphia Food Pantry is getting to plan for the future after receiving a major financial boost.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation is awarding the organization $750,000 spread over five years, amounting to $150,000 annually.

Volunteer Chief Operations Officer Jim Rice says the pantry received $50,000 last year, making this larger commitment an unexpected surprise.

Rice says there are no restrictions on how the money can be used, allowing the pantry to focus on long-term improvements to increase efficiency. Potential projects include replacing aging equipment, such as electric pallet jacks, and addressing wear and tear in the decades-old building.

No final decisions have been made. The pantry’s board of directors is expected to discuss options at upcoming meetings.
