It could cost a little bit more to host a garage sale in New Philadelphia.
Administrators have recommended increasing the price of a garage sale permit from one dollar to five dollars. Council will likely vote on it next month.
Mayor Joel Day says the fee is in line with other communities.
“It has not been raised since 1989, and the cost of administration has gone up.”
Law Director Marvin Fete says officials are working on an online calendar.
“It would be available on the city’s website. It would advertise who’s having a garage sale with the address and people can click on it and see it.”
Day says New Philadelphia gives out around 70 to 100 garage sale permits a year, and the increase will generate about 400 dollars more for the city.
