Claymont City School heard from Barnett Realtors and Cronebaugh Auction on their recommendation for the sale of the Intermediate building.

A motion was made at an April special meeting to close the Dennison building and move 8th grade to the high school, 4th and 5th to the middle school, and 3rd grade to the elementary for the 2026-27 school term.

At May’s regular board meeting, Amy Myers and Bob Hall provided information to members.

“We are recommending at selling it at auction. One day and then you’re done. Superintendent Rentsch did also recommend that in the course of that auction you would sell also northside and the playground as well, so you wouldn’t hold any real estate in Dennison except for this building [administration office].”

Superintendent Brian Rentsch says they are looking at the sale to be around October 2026.

“If you look at by December when it really gets cold we would have to be doing prep work for winter time, so it would be sold at that point in time.”

The majority of the furniture will move to the other buildings and the fiber optic technology will go across the street to the administration building.
