The Uhrichsville Water Park is looking for applicants to fill vacancies.

Service Director Cade Watkins says they need to hire for all positions from concession stand to lifeguards.

“Everything down at the water park we need help with cause the numbers are still not looking like they need to be. Forty applicants total that we have that are committed to some position. Only 10 or 11 lifeguards we have. We usually have 10 or 11 lifeguards working at one time so that’s not going to work. Very concerning. Brings a lot of questions about normal hours, normal days, normal scheduling. What the future of the water park looks like I think is a serious question more people need to be involved in answering.”

Those interested in being a lifeguard can get the qualification cost reimbursed.

Meanwhile, a representative with Environmental Design Group attended an April meeting and spoke on the benefits of the city approving a survey of the water park and encouraged leaders to ask hard questions like, is this an asset the community wants to keep or is it just a drain on finances.

There’s about eight more years of debt, and administration has repeatedly noted the costly repairs for the aging infrastructure and staffing concerns.

“Reaching a point where I think we need to make some big decisions and what those decisions are I can’t say for certain. I would love to meet or have some form of meeting to discuss.”

Anyone looking for a summer job can contact the Uhrichsville mayor’s office at 740-922-1242.
