The Law Enforcement Torch Run relay is passing through Tuscarawas County today, as it makes its way toward Columbus for the Special Olympics Ohio Summer Games this weekend.
Local police officers are carrying the Flame of Hope, running individual legs of the route and passing the torch from one department to another along the way.
The relay is scheduled to arrive in Strasburg at 9:30 this morning, followed by Dover at 10:30, New Philadelphia at 11:20, and Sugarcreek at 12:45 this afternoon.
The Torch Run is the signature fundraising and awareness event for Special Olympics Ohio, symbolizing support for athletes across the state as they prepare for this weekend’s competitions at the Ohio State campus.
