An 18-year-old driver was not seriously hurt when his pickup truck overturned Monday on Little Buckhorn Road in Jefferson Township.

State troopers say the crash happened just before 10:30 a.m. in the 6900 block, south of Stone Creek, as the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned.

Sgt. Jennifer Makris says the driver, Griffin Blackwell of New Philadelphia, was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his hand and ear but declined further medical care.

She says no other vehicles were involved and there were no witnesses, but Blackwell told troopers he was going too fast and was unfamiliar with the roadway. He was cited for failure to control.

When troopers arrived, the truck was found overturned. Blackwell was wearing a seatbelt, and airbags did not deploy.
