City of Uhrichsville officials are voicing frustrations over a Twin City Water Department project near the stadium.
Mayor Jim Zucal says, according to his count, the contractor has dug up the same hole 17 times since the Uhrich and 11th Street project started last year. Other issues have also occurred.
“The contractor didn’t connect two of the sewer lines, two people who live on Uhrich, and they had sewer in their basement, so they dug it up again to find out they were never tied into the main line.”
Zucal says based upon ODOT specifications they should use a vibratory compactor, but the contractor says they’re worried that the motion will damage the line.
If they don’t do that is this going to settle and we’ve got a great big dip down there. Who’s going to pay for it if we deem it’s not done right and how long do we wait to see. It’ll take a winter or two. We’ve been documenting everything. We talk daily to the engineers. We need to know legally who’s responsible if that street [needs] torn up. Who’s paying for that. I’ve asked the law director to look into that.”
The city contributed $85,000 for a full road pavement in conjunction with the water department project.
A tentative paving timeline is June 3rd through the 5th.
