Mosquito spraying is scheduled this week in parts of Tuscarawas County following a spike in mosquito activity.

County Health Department crews will spray in Goshen Township and the Village of Roswell on Wednesday, and in Fairfield Township on Thursday, from 8 to 11 p.m. both evenings, weather permitting.  Recent mosquito surveillance found trap counts above the threshold for action along Tall Timber Road and Canal Road.

Environmental Health Operations Administrator Mike Kopko says residents should help by using repellents, wearing protective clothing, and eliminating standing water.

He says mosquito control services are only available in communities that have opted into the program. Local leaders can contact the health department at 330-343-5550 for more information.

Health officials recommend residents with respiratory conditions stay indoors during spraying.
