Gerald Lee Larrick, 91 of Odell, passed away on June 16, 2026, at Cambridge Place Assisted Living.
Gerald was born December 3, 1934, on the farm on Larrick Ridge, son of Francis and Blanche (Evans) Larrick. Gary worked on many construction jobs as a member of Local 18 Ohio Operating Engineers, including interstates I-77 and I-70. He also farmed full time, starting in the 1960s with milk cows, then to beef cattle and eventually in the 1980s and 90s had a herd of 1000 Angora goats. In 1999 he and Mary opened Big Sky R.V. Park which the family built themselves from the ground up, and also operated the Park Market. Gary was a member of Irish Ridge Church, and a life member of Freeport Masonic Lodge #415. He had many friends over the years. Gary will be remembered for his hard work, and the pain he bravely went through over his last thirty years. He was a tough man and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine years, Mary Ellen (Upton) Larrick, whom he married on September 8, 1956 in Richmond, Indiana; his children Cherylynn (John) Smith of Westminster, Maryland, William (Marvilyn) Larrick of Kimbolton, and Dale (Belinda) Larrick of Newcomerstown; his grandchildren Frank Smith, Scott Larrick, Gerald Larrick, and Jenny Anmarie Larrick; one great-granddaughter, Quinly; his siblings Bertie Lou Minich, Elizabeth Waggoner, John (Mary Jean) Larrick, and Daniel (Debbie) Larrick; several nieces and nephews; and special friend J.C. Welch.
A visitation will be held at Irish Ridge Church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2026. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Wilber Bragg officiating. Gary will be laid to rest in Irish Ridge Cemetery.
