Fort Laurens in Bolivar is rededicating its Tomb of the Unknown Patriot of the American Revolution this weekend.
The ceremony will take place Saturday at 1 p.m., hosted by the Ohio History Connection, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Zoar Community Association.
Neil Thomas with the Ohio History Connection says recent upgrades to the Tomb include masonry work, landscaping and the addition of a new monument for the soldiers who died at Fort Laurens.
It’s part of a larger nearly 7-million-dollar project to enhance Fort Laurens, funded mainly by the state’s capital budget.
To help guide the updates to the museum, Fort Laurens has been hosting public archaeology days, with the next one on July 11th. Those digs have already uncovered a fired musket ball and a French gun flint.
