Following a positive West Nile Virus test the City of New Philadelphia Health Department is preparing to spray on Tuesday.

The mosquito samples were collected near Commercial Avenue SE and Goshen Hill Road.

Control measure include spraying in the area south of Commercial Ave. to the New Philadelphia Southside Community Park, and also in a 1-mile radius around Goshen Hill Cemetery.

The health Department will be out starting around 8:45pm. Anyone with respiratory issues should take precautions.

West Nile Virus is transmitted through an infected mosquito bite, and is typically asymptomatic.

As a reminder, individuals are encouraged to empty sanding water from properties and to use insect repellent when outdoors.
