The Uhrichsville Water Park will be closed for the time being. The city is also hiring a group to conduct an assessment.

The city posted on social media Thursday that there was a safety issue with a slide on the play structure.

At that evening’s council meeting, Service Director Cade Watkins explained the situation.

“The green slide in the kiddie area is actually disconnected from the deck of the pool. It’s a jagged edge not safe for people to be around.”

It was unknown how long the Water Park would be closed. Watkins hopes a company that will be in the area next week can make the necessary repairs.

Following an executive session, council gave approval for Mayor Jim Zucal to hire Clemans, Nelson and Associates.

“For operations, to time study it and four hours of supervisory and training. We have 98 employees, so we have to follow all the laws, we need to function properly, time study the positions, and we need to know more about what’s going on down there. We have a mix of juveniles and adults. We’re doing this to avoid issues with staff and workers. We have to streamline that.”

Council approved up to $20,000 to be spent on the assessment.
