A semipro football team from Tuscarawas County is apologizing after a large fight that reportedly took place at a game Saturday while Carrollton High School officials are distancing themselves from whatever happened.

Official details are limited, but there are plenty of unverified accounts on social media. Carrollton Police did not immediately return messages.

The Tuscarawas County Warriors were playing the Canton Hurricanes at Warrior Stadium in Carrollton on Saturday. Scanner traffic indication police received a report of a large fight at the stadium involving 50 people.

There were also reports of smoke in the area and people threatening to pull out weapons.

Carrollton school officials in a statement said they rent out their football stadium to the Tuscarawas County Warriors football team. They say Saturday’s incident is not connected to the high school, and the semipro football team operates independently of the school district.

A statement on the Tuscarawas County Warriors Facebook page apologizes and says an investigation is taking place.
