The City of Uhrichsville council accepts a property leasing contract. A special Thursday meeting discussed the location at Romig and Trenton Avenue as the new home for the service garage.

Council unanimously approved the leasing contract for 121 and 125 S. Romig Street at $1,000 per month.  Service Director Cade Watkins says the property owner requested the city cover property taxes while occupying it. Watkins says they will apply for an exemption since it will be used for city purposes.

Street Supervisor Steve Patterson says everything at the current garage can move to the new location.

“I have 14 pieces of equipment that needs to be put inside and with that said I have plenty of room in that building. This is just a transition. It’s a place for us to go. It’s going to save us money.”

The salt bin will move to a different property owned by the city.

“I’ve got it lined up to be put down at the west side yard. We own that property and we’ve got plenty of room. I’ve got all the information in. It’s going to pretty much identical to what’s over here but we’re going to cut some serious expenses cause I’m not going to have poured walls. This is all high tech, real expensive, but it’s going to be the same exact size.”

The lease is contingent upon the sale of the current garage at the corner of N. Main and E. 2nd Street.
