Claymont City School administration is noting a pick-up and drop-off along with building start and end time differences.

The Intermediate building in Dennison will no longer being used by students and staff following the board of education voting to close the building amid lower enrollment numbers and overall costs.

The first day back to school is August 20th. Superintendent Brian Rentsch says some grade levels were restructured.

“Our high school will be 8 – 12, the middle school will be 4 – 7, the elementary on Trenton Avenue will be grades 1st through 3rd, and the primary on Eastport Avenue, will remain preschool and kindergarten.”

Due to this, the middle school only will have a drop-off and pickup pattern change.

“Before it was on Uhrich Avenue now it’s on Main Street. That will be where we drop-off and pick-up for parents, which is on the gym end. Buses will be coming up through Uhrich on to 6th Street and then from there continue on as their pattern.”

Rentsch adds a couple of start and end times also shifted with the high school remaining from 7:45am to 2:45pm, the middle school will start class at 7:50am and be done a 2:50pm, the elementary begins at 8:05am and ends at 3:05pm, and then the primary starts at 8:15am with dismissal at 3:15pm.
