
Members of the Canton Division of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol SRT, Sheriff officials from Tuscarawas County and Stark County,
Midvale Police Department and the Canton Police Department successfully arrest Darrell Washington.
The 46-year-old was wanted by the Canton Police Department for aggravated murder and aggravated arson regarding an August 9th incident where officers with the Canton Police Department were called to an apartment on Alan Page Drive. Canton Firefighters found two deceased women inside an apartment.
Canton Police say the victims, 42-year-old Katina Spells, of Canton, and Kourtni Yeager, 31, of Massillon, had suffered severe burns and gunshot wounds.
According to a release from the U.S. Marshalls, Washington was identified as a suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Wednesday afternoon, task force members arrested Washington at an address in the 1500 block of Barnhill Road, in New Philadelphia. During the arrest, he attempted to flee but was caught and taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit.
The Task Force notes that the Uhrichsville Fire Department and New Philadelphia Fire Department were instrumental in the arrest.
Additionally, another suspect in the case turned himself in to police on Tuesday. A third suspect, 41-year-old Melissa Terrell, of Canton, is still at large.
