The city of New Philadelphia will spray for mosquitos Thursday night to combat a spike in the mosquito population brought on by a rainy summer.
City Health Director Nicole Bache says her department has received a lot of complaints this summer about mosquitos.

The city health department has been using larvicide and adulticide to try to bring down the population.
Bache says residents can help, too, by picking up free mosquito tabs at the city health department. Those can be put in standing water to control mosquito breeding.

Thursday’s spraying will take place around Tuscora Park and in the Goshen Township area, weather permitting, starting around 8:45 p.m.
