The Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra will start its 91st season during Labor Day Weekend with its new music director and conductor.
The Board of Directors recently elevated Dr. Scott MacPherson to the position after three years as assistant conductor.
In a press release, MacPherson says he is honored by the board’s unanimous support and proud to share the stage with the incredibly talented musicians of the orchestra. His first concert in the new role will be Sunday, September 6th at 7 p.m. at Tuscora Park.
MacPherson retired from Kent State University in 2023 as director of choral studies. His conducting credits include the Kent State Symphony Orchestra, the Alliance Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio, and many others.
Orchestra Executive Director Emma Hinkle says “Pops in the Park” will include music familiar to all generations. Board member Erica Van Pelt says the Philharmonic’s 91st season will be busy.
