The first La Crosse Virus case is confirmed in Tuscarawas County along with the third case of West Nile Virus.
Tuscarawas County Health Department Director of Environmental Health Services Caroline Terakedis says the mosquito samples were collected on July 30th.
“La Crosse detected near Ault Road in the Somerdale area, one of those pools came back positive for West Nile Virus.”
She says this is not alarming but encourages continued precautions.
“Wear insect repellent, long sleeves and pants, and limit activity around dusk and dawn.”
Spraying will take place in a two-mile radius of Somerdale near State Route 212 and within the same radius of Ault Road and Tabor Ridge Road NE. Mosquito spraying will be held Saturday from 8 to 11pm.
