The Dover Public Library has officially launched a new endowment fund after this month’s Big Book Sale exceeded the $10,000 needed to establish the account. Donations from the sale — along with a matching contribution from the Friends of the Library — provided the seed money required to move the project forward.
Director Jim Gill says the endowment, managed by the Tuscarawas County Community Foundation, is designed to create a long-term, sustainable funding stream for the library. Income generated through the fund can be distributed annually while preserving the principal for the future.
Gill says the effort comes at a time when state funding has declined, and tax revenue remains uncertain.
He says the endowment will help ensure the library can continue offering programs, services, and community space for years to come.
Next year marks the library’s 125th anniversary, and Gill says launching the endowment is a way to honor that legacy and support the library’s future.
