Concerns were raised for the Wardell Street project that could be split into two construction timelines.
The City of Uhrichsville secured Ohio Department of Development grants for a full depth asphalt replacement and curb widening.
Auditor Matt Judy says the city could be put in a bind if they would do the project all at once.
“If we try to do the whole project this year it’s really going to put a bite on the cash because we have to have the cash up front and then get reimbursed.”
Law Director Jeff Merklin adds there’s a few things that still needs changed on the contract.
“To make it legal and to make sure the city is not on the hook for some potential ‘got you’ down the line, so my opinion is it’s not ready for a vote now. I can’t recommend we accept the bid as it is now because by splitting it up is it the same bid as it was before. The timing, the documents now say 120 days, and we know the weather and the supply of whatever material is, I guess, in November go away.”
Council withheld voting. The project engineer said if the work is spilt, sewer relocation work would take place first, hopefully this year, followed by the storm drain and widening in 2027.
